A Tune, represents complex, multi-temporal realities, and our performance and film aimed to gesture at these, and deconstructivity played with symbolic uses of female bodies as well as flags, colours, and other forms of demarcations, which we used to foreground the question of what happens between and across the spaces of individual bodily integrity or sovereignty when in community.
This piece plays with the idea of attunement, asking, ‘how can we three artists meaningfully and authentically attune to one another in order to collaborate, given that each of us values control and safety as key conditions for creative practice’? This question shaped our exploration of syncing diverse interests, negotiating specific (and sometimes conflicting) sensory needs, and aligning different energetic cadences. We aimed to collaborate while valuing our embodied experience and without surrendering sovereignty - each artist remaining ‘in her own skin,’ attuned to our own internal rhythms, while consenting to relinquish just enough control to let a collective form emerge.
